Why You Should Stop Worrying and Read This Blog
10/23/2013

Does the world really need another blog? And even if it does, why should you want to read this one on a regular basis? Who am I to tell you what I’m thinking about five days a week?

Very good questions all, and I’m glad you asked them. If credentials are what get you going, I have a BA in philosophy with a minor in economics from McGill University. Prior to that, I completed a two-year DEC in music from Vanier College, and before that, well, I was kinda good at math and science in high school. My continuing education is more independent, consisting largely of reading a wide range of the best fiction and nonfiction I can get my hands on.

In 2005, I began writing for Le Québécois Libre, a bilingual web magazine that has been promoting individual liberty, free markets and voluntary cooperation since 1998, and three years later, I became its English Editor. I’ve also written quite a bit for
The Atlas Society and its magazine, The New Individualist, as well as for a number of other publications. And I’m in the final stages, I believe, at long last, of completing my first novel.

In this blog, I will be writing about my vision of a better world, using current events, or just what I’m currently reading, as a springboard. Flawed though we are, I believe that we humans have it in us to make the world a more rational, freer, happier place. I think we have already made great strides, in fits and starts to be sure. Reason and science have triumphed over fallacy and superstition in many ways; slavery and servitude have given way to measurable increases in freedom and opportunity for large swaths of humanity; and personal happiness is taken more seriously than ever as a goal worth pursuing and a topic worthy of scientific study.

But there is still plenty of room for improvement. I believe that I can help nudge us along through my writing. If you’d like to imagine a better world with me, please sign up, and I’ll do my best not to be boring.
